We're moving to Summer Hill. Our new Summer Hill rooms open soon. Until then, in-person appointments with Shadi continue at Canterbury, and Juliette and Pua are taking new clients via telehealth now.

Empowering clarity and mental alignment

Aligned Minds Mental Health & Wellbeing Centre exists because good psychological care should feel like more than a referral and a waiting room.

We are a growing multidisciplinary mental health practice in Summer Hill. Our psychologists work closely with your GP and other treating practitioners, so you don't have to coordinate your own care across a scattered system.

We are building towards bringing psychiatry and general practice under one roof, so your clinicians can talk to each other and you spend less energy being the bridge between them.

We see children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in person at our Canterbury rooms (moving to Summer Hill soon) and via telehealth Australia-wide, with appointments available six days a week, including Saturdays. Medicare rebates are available with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Our Therapeutic Space

Our new Summer Hill rooms, opening soon, are being designed with natural textures and soft light to feel calm rather than clinical, a space for safety, reflection and healing.

Our Philosophy of Care

We start with why, not what.

It is easy to treat a symptom and leave the thing underneath it untouched. We are more interested in root causes than in managing distress at the surface. That means slowing down enough to understand how someone came to be where they are, and what their difficulties have been protecting them from, before deciding what to do about them.

We see people, not presentations.

A diagnosis can be useful shorthand. It is rarely the whole story of why a person responds to the world the way they do. The struggles people bring to us almost always make sense in the context of what they have lived through, even when they feel senseless from the inside. Our work begins with taking that context seriously.

Safety is the work, not the warm-up.

Looking inward is only possible when it feels safe to do it. We do not treat the building of that safety as a preliminary step to get through before the real therapy starts. For many people, especially those carrying trauma, it is the most significant work they will do with us, and it takes as long as it takes.

Coping strategies deserve respect before they are changed.
The patterns people most want to be rid of usually kept them functioning through something difficult. They are not failures of willpower or character. We work to understand what a strategy was for, and only then to help someone find what might serve them better now.

There is no single right approach.

Our clinicians work across schema therapy, DBT, RO-DBT, ACT, CBT, IFS, EMDR, somatic and trauma-informed approaches, and we draw on them according to what fits the person in front of us. What makes therapy effective is not the method but the relationship it happens inside, which is why we take care matching people to the clinician who suits them.

Care should be collaborative.

We work with you, not on you. That means your goals shape the work, you set the pace, and you are free to say when something is not landing. It also means our clinicians talk to each other, so that your care holds together rather than arriving in fragments.
