We're moving to Summer Hill. Our new Summer Hill rooms open soon. Until then, in-person appointments with Shadi continue at Canterbury, and Juliette and Pua are taking new clients via telehealth now.

Juliette Mingant
Registered Psychologist

Juliette has an intense passion for working with people with complex trauma and/or who identify with the symptoms of borderline personality disorder. She also has an interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals and is committed to working from a neuro-affirming lens.
Juliette's therapeutic approach is centred on addressing root causes of psychological suffering to create meaningful change, rather than "band-aiding" distress. She sees people beyond their diagnoses and believes that their mental health struggles often make perfect sense in the context of their experiences. Her goal is to help people feel safe enough to look inward and address their wounds.
Juliette recognises that while certain coping strategies may have been useful and necessary in the past, they may no longer serve a person's wellbeing. Her work with clients may look like fostering awareness around how past experiences have shaped them, and learning practical skills to help them release what was absorbed as a result of trauma. This allows clients to offer themselves self-compassion and validation while unlearning the patterns keeping them stuck.
In addition to working with people individually, Juliette has experience facilitating DBT and women's trauma groups in hospital settings. Her work in this space has shown her that when people feel safe and seen, they begin to heal.
Juliette's own journey, navigating healing from complex trauma and uncovering her own neurodivergence, has landed her here and is what fuels her deep passion for this work. As someone who used to believe life was always going to be unbearably painful, she now knows it is more than possible to find a sense of meaning, to build trust within oneself, to have secure relationships, and so many other positive things after trauma.
Juliette's approach is mostly informed by: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Parts Work including Internal Family Systems and Schema Therapy, somatic approaches and EMDR.

She has facilitated CBT, DBT, eating disorder and women's trauma groups, and has contributed to program development in trauma and group facilitation. Her work in hospital settings continues to include women's trauma groups.
My Treatment Philosophy
Juliette works from the understanding that symptoms are adaptations, not defects. Her approach is informed primarily by Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Internal Family Systems, nervous system science including Polyvagal Theory, Schema Therapy and Somatic Therapy.
