We're moving to Summer Hill. Our new Summer Hill rooms open soon. Until then, in-person appointments with Shadi continue at Canterbury, and Juliette and Pua are taking new clients via telehealth now.

Seven Years: Meet Juliette and Pua

Seven years ago....

Seven years ago, two women came into my professional life within months of each other. One applied for a role as a group facilitator. The other came to me for placement. Neither of them had much behind them yet.

Today they are the clinicians I am building Aligned Minds with. I want to tell you how that happened, because it says something about what we look for here, and about what we think actually makes a good therapist.

Juliette: gentleness that never changed

Juliette applied for a role as a group facilitator. She was green as anything back then, and I hired her anyway, because what struck me was her authenticity. There was a gentleness about her that you cannot teach and cannot fake.

Seven years on, she has not changed. That same authenticity and gentleness are exactly what have made her the psychologist she is today. She does not perform warmth. She is warm, and her clients feel it from the first session.

Juliette is now a Registered Psychologist working with adults and adolescents presenting with trauma, depression, anxiety, neurodivergence and borderline personality disorder. Her practice is integrative and deeply trauma informed, drawing on EMDR, IFS, somatic approaches, Schema Therapy, DBT and CBT. GP referrals are welcome under a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Pua: quiet resolve

Pua came to me for placement that same year. What I noticed early was a quiet resolve, and a resilience unlike anyone I had worked with.

Over the years I have watched her find strength through struggle, again and again. Her vulnerability is not something she works around. It is the very thing that makes her such a remarkable therapist. You can see it in how she holds a room, steady and present, no matter what is in it.

Pua is a Provisional Psychologist working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families presenting with anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, mood difficulties, addiction and neurodivergence. She works within Schema Therapy, DBT, RO-DBT, ACT and CBT, and offers timely, affordable support without the need for a Mental Health Care Plan.

How lucky I am

Gentleness and quiet resolve. Neither of those things show up on a CV, but they are what turn a graduate into someone people trust with the worst week of their life.

I have watched both of them do this work for seven years now. I have watched Juliette sit with someone in their hardest moment without flinching, and Pua hold a room steady through anything. They are brilliant clinicians, and they are genuinely good humans, and that combination is rarer than people think.

Building Aligned Minds with them beside me is not something I take for granted. How truly blessed I am to have found these two. I honestly do not know how I got this lucky.
